How to count pages in a PDF
A PDF keeps a list of its pages inside the file. Altto opens each PDF on your device, reads that list and the size of each page, and adds everything up. Nothing has to be rendered, so even big batches are quick.
Add your PDFs
Pick one file or select many at once. Folders of hundreds are fine.
Press Count
Each file is opened on your device and its pages counted.
Use the results
See the total and print sheets, then download a CSV or copy the list.
Getting the most from a page count
A page count is often the first step in a bigger job. These tips save a second trip.
- Quoting for printingCheck the page size column: a printer will charge differently for A3 or mixed sizes. Double-sided sheet counts assume each file is printed on its own.
- Quoting by the word insteadTranslators and typists often price per word. PDF to Text shows the word count of a PDF along with its text.
- Merge before you printPrinting one combined file avoids a blank back page at the end of every odd-length document. Use Merge PDF first.
- Spotting blank pagesIf a scan’s count looks too high, it may include blank backs of pages. Delete PDF Pages can find and remove them.
Like every Altto tool, this runs on your device — nothing you add is uploaded. How Altto works
of PDFs can be counted in one go. Only the page list is read, not the content, so even a folder of large scans takes seconds rather than minutes.
