Quick answer: open the free menu template in Altto Layout, type over the sample dishes and prices with your own, then save it as a PDF to print or share. It runs in your browser, needs no sign-up and nothing is uploaded.
Publisher was a common way to put together a cafe, restaurant, pub or party menu. This is an original A4 portrait menu with a thin brown border, an italic serif title, a small-caps style subtitle and three sections (starters, mains and desserts) with a name, price and short description for each dish. The dishes are made-up samples, so replace every line with your own.
How to make your menu
- Click Open the menu template. The editor opens with the sample menu on the page.
- Double-click the title and subtitle to put in your own name and meal (lunch, dinner, Sunday roast).
- Double-click each dish to change its name, price and description. Add or delete lines as you need.
- Change colours and fonts from the side panel, then choose PDF to print or share.
Tips for a menu people can read
- Check every price twice before printing. Prices on a printed menu are what you have to charge.
- Keep the allergy line at the bottom, and keep it accurate: tell customers to ask staff about allergens.
- Print at 100% (“actual size”) on A4, or ask a print shop to put it on thicker card.
- For a QR-code or phone menu, save the PDF and share the file, or save a PNG or JPG.
Other designs in the same editor: certificate, 2027 calendar, flyer, newsletter, invitation and business card. It can also open old .pub files.
